Fly Fishing Texas Hill Country Llano River |
The Llano River is a pristine, spring-fed hill country stream chocked full of bass and sunfish.
There are abundant carp and spotted gar, to sight cast to, as well.
It has spectacular examples of diverse
geology; with granite, slate, and red sandstone. These formations stand out in cliffs climbing 500 feet above the
river. The river has a bed rock bottom with periods of sorted gravel. There are boulders the size of
a one bedroom house in places, giving shelter to fish in 20 feet of water.
There is very little development along
the shores, but plentiful wildlife including whitetail deer, wild turkey, and numerous rare species including birds
of prey. Bald Eagles have been seen recently nesting in the area.
Our Llano float trips are conducted near
Mason, Texas. There are 2 different sections we fish; one section is about 4 river miles and the other is about 7 river
miles.
We float and fish the Llano in 14 foot custom whitewater rafts. It's the best way to access these remote
waters.
